Tax and Fiscal

Grade: C+

An analysis of Trump’s tax and fiscal record shows a below average commitment to limited government principles surrounding controlling spending and government growth. As President, Trump signed a number of fiscally irresponsible budgets and massive spending packages into law, in part contributing to a growth in the national debt of nearly $8 trillion (36%) during his time in office. However, Trump did sign a landmark tax reform bill which greatly spurred economic growth and took some executive actions to reduce waste within federal agencies.
