While the bill mandates the fingerprints collected must be destroyed by the state, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) retains these fingerprints for the individual's lifetime. Threatening Public Safety by Limiting Incarceration for Probation Violations to 14 Days Regardless of Likelihood to Reoffend.

This bill prohibits localities from requiring that a permit be obtained for the use of a residential dwelling as a short-term rental where the unit is also legally occupied by the property owner as their primary residence. Support is the Limited Government Position as this bill helps strengthen property rights and protects landlords against overreaching local regulations that most often restrict competition and drive-up rental costs. While some may argue this bill undermines "local control," our founding fathers only recognized three entities within the U.S. Constitution - federal government, state government, and the individual. It is not the role for any level of government to unduly infringe the rights of individuals, therefore making preemption measures, such as this bill, necessary.
