Local and National Security

Grade: B

An analysis of Scott’s record on local and national security shows a strong commitment to limited government principles. As Senator, Scott supported multiple measures to stop illegal immigration, including stopping defunding sanctuary cities and stopping the migrant surge at the southern border. However, Scott deviated from limited government principles through his support of ceding Congress’ authority to declare war to NATO. Additionally, his strong backing of criminal justice reform led to a movement of extreme criminal code changes across the nation – especially in state legislatures – which resulted in spiking crime rates across the country.
