An analysis of Pence’s record shows a generally strong commitment to limited government principles surrounding individual liberties. As Governor, Pence signed multiple measures which strengthened 2nd Amendment rights as well as a “right to try” bill. While Pence is very strong on protecting religious liberties, he has a record of deviating from limited government principles on issues such as powdered alcohol and parental rights over tanning.
