Under the bill, soft drink companies must now accept the transfer of a bottlers business to another entity and agree to transact with the new entity unless the soft drink company shows in writing the new entity does not meet its qualification requirements. Oppose is the Limited Government Position as this bill utilizes the power of government to interfere in private contracting agreements to provide more favorable outcomes to one party (bottlers) over another party (soft drink companies). Lawmakers should not further expand the size and scope of the regulatory state to interfere in the free market.

Infringing Private Contracting Rights by Imposing New Government Mandates on the Business Agreements Between Soft Drink Companies and Bottlers.

The Scott amendment to Item 137 #1h in the annual appropriations bill. This motion blocks the amendment, which adds $270 million to the budget for "support" staff positions in schools. Support is the Limited Government Position as this amendment massively increases taxpayer spending on education and further highlights the need for school choice.
